John A sent this out on GUN VIOLENCE. This seems very appropriate to post as a Social Action topic. What do you think?

Last week, shots rang out near the Canadian parliament. Days later, a high school student in Seattle shot five of his classmates, killing two. Every day, an average of 289 people are shot with a gun in the United States. For many of them in our cities, their stories are never told.
Guns are once again in the news—an all-too-familiar story of violence, harm, and fear. What can Christians do in light of these tragedies? Last year, we gathered over 300 leaders to talk about it, and now we’re offering a free study guide based on our conversation.
We created this discussion guide to help people of faith engage the issue of gun violence, and we want you to have it. Click here for your copy.
If you’re looking for a response to the daily violence of guns in America, this guide is for you. With essays from Jim Wallis, Shane Claiborne, Walter Brueggemann, Richard Rohr, and others, we know you and your friends will be inspired and moved.
Each section has helpful discussion questions, which makes this perfect for small groups or individual study. Plus, you’ll have access to videos from our gathering at The Summit in 2014—the personal testimony in these clips moved me to tears.
Pull together a group, or read it on your own. Just imagine the difference if over 1,000 churches and groups started discussions on these issues and took action. These conversations aren’t easy but, as people of peace, they are important ones to have.
Thanks for engaging, and we’re glad to have you on board.
In faith,
Timothy King
Summit Director
