Here is an interesting email I received about Fracking... Note: this blog does not endorse any particular view or candidate, but is a PLATFORM for IDEAS to be shared.

" ... the injected wastewater “counteracts the frictional
forces on faults and, in effect, ‘pries them apart,’ thereby facilitating
earthquake slip.” -- The United States Geological Service.
Many New Yorkers would
be surprised to know that America is now producing more oil and gas than
Saudi Arabia.
America is becoming a
oligarchic petro-state when we should be leading the world
in a rapid 21st century upgrade to 100% clean energy in order
to protect the climate and build a shared sustainable prosperity.
Hydrofracking is
tearing through the the earth and injecting toxic fracking fluids
several miles deep, polluting communities, water supplies and causing
earthquakes.
This election is a
referendum on fracking.
Where does our
Governor stand on this crucial environmental issue? He's sitting on the
fence, waiting for the election to be over.
What many people don't
know is that Cuomo has already brought fracking to New York. Last week, I met with fracktivists in the
Southern Tier who showed me where Pennsylvania fracking wastes are being
dumped in their community. They showed me the drilling pipes, equipment, fine
sand, and chemicals stockpiled at the “The Center at Horseheads” industrial
park for drilling in Pennsylvania and along the shale formations of the
Appalachian Mountain chain.
Cuomo has allowed this
fracking infrastructure and waste to take hold in New York State while
even pro-fracking Republican Rob Astorino signed a law
banning fracking waste from his own county.
Cuomo's big business
allies, including the oil and gas giants and their Wall Street investors,
have poured tens of millions of dollars into his campaign fund. We don't need that amount of money because we
are not telling lies. Telling lies is a very expensive business.
But we do need to get
our message out to the voters so that they know they have an ally, someone on
their side standing up for the health of our communities. Otherwise we are
invisible to the people of New York State who will only sink further into despair
and abstention from elections knowing that no one -- not Democrat or
Republican -- is on their side.
I don't want the Green
alternative to be invisible to the people of New York State, but I'm going to
need your support to get our message out.
I need you to dig deep
and I hope that you can.
The people of New York
State need to know -- you are not alone – that the Green Party stands
with you. They need to hear from us, but we will need to pay for the
media to reach the people.
We want New Yorkers to
know that – in all likelihood, barring a miraculous upset of Cuomo
in the Democratic primary – the Green ticket is the only
progressive choice in the race for Governor that remains on the November
ballot.
Thank you again for
your support. It means a lot to me and to everyone who is working so hard for
this campaign.
In solidarity,
Howie Hawkins
